St. Peter's exists to celebrate our Christian faith through worship, fellowship and the demonstration of Christian love.

This mission statement for our parish concludes by stating that to accomplish this purpose we must "Reach out to the world around us and demonstrate Christian love, sharing our gifts and talents with our neighbors and those most in need of them. "

In support of this purpose, each year we budget significant dollars for outreach from St. Peter's to help the needy in the larger community outside our parish.

Our outreach goal, as well as that of the larger Diocese, is 50% of our budget. This includes our Diocesan contribution and outreach monies donated by the Outreach Committee, the ECW and other parish groups. We work hard each year to increase the percentage of our budget that we donate to outreach.

Generous parishioners support many St. Peter's outreach efforts which help those in need:

The Men's Breakfast Group regularly prepares and serves lunch for the St. John's (Boonton) lunch program.

Confirmation classes and young people in the parish often participate in service projects

The annual DYFS Easter Basket collection and the Back-to-School project gather gifts and school supplies for many needy children.

The Committee has worked hard to increase individuals' contributions of food and grocery items which are donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry.

The Outreach Committee collects Christmas gifts from generous parishioners and donates them to Boonton Health Services, Hope House, Lake Drive School and other social service agencies

Advent outreach for several years has raised scholarship money for a student at St. Philip's Academy in Newark. Individual parishioners donate generously and Outreach Committee and ECW funding have supported this project.

Contributions have been made to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund to help the victims of disasters around the world, including the tsunami and hurricane Katrina. Outreach funds have supported the Diocese's Prison Ministry, and other worthwhile outreach projects are often undertaken when a need is seen.

It is also important to remember that many individuals in our parish also give freely of their time, energy and financial resources by serving individually in charity and volunteer efforts to reach out to those in need.

Our commitment to serving those in need continues to grow. New members are always welcome on the Outreach Committee, and donations to outreach projects are always welcome. Our congregation's generous support of parish outreach and our parishioners' individual efforts to serve others strengthen our faith, our parish and our communities.
